Lindsay Dean

Whoever reads this today...I ask that you prayerfully seek how the Lord wants to use you in little Lindsay's life. We each are called to do our part and I want you to seek Him concerning this.

~Pray for this little girl! Ask the Holy Spirit to bring Lindsay back to your mind to continue praying for her! It could be any one of our children and I know as a Mother, that is the only thing I would ask of you....PLEASE PRAY FOR MY CHILD!

~Visit their website and let them know you are praying! I think the enemy sneaks into our minds and tells us how we are the only one going through a feel alone. GO ENCOURAGE! Let the body of Christ come together to speak a sweet word of encouragement! Let this Mama know that you are praying for her child!

~Donate! I know in this tough economy things are tight, but I ask again that you seek the Lord. If it is only $5 that you can donate....PRAISE GOD!! It's not the amount that you give but the heart in which you give!

I praise God that He lead us to support Lindsay this month! I praise Him that she is now woven in our heart forever! Though the month is over, their website will be added to our favorite links page so we can continue on this journey along side them!

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name,
Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your
iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who
crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with
good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle....For as high as the
heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who
fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our
transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the
Lord has compassion on those who fear Him

Psalm 103: 1-5, 11-13

Living Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6

The last week as been somewhat of a difficult week for me. I think this was because our Sunday morning no TV deal did not work out to well this week. The morning started out with Lola getting up before me. She came in and asked if she could go downstairs...I replied with a sleepy yes. After lying in a half sleep for about 15 more minutes, it hit me about the TV. I got up and went downstairs, and here is little Lola laying on the couch with no TV on. Wow...I was impressed, they pretty much always turn on the cartoons in the morning! So I went about my morning business of starting to get ready for Fellowship and I hear Kolton awake. is where it all starts to go down hill!!

He was a GRUMP!! He cried and screamed about everything, throwing himself down on the floor and just simply having a fit. I couldn't do anything right. Now, this fit wasn't about the TV not being on... he was just a big grump! But oh, that darn much it was calling my name! I had to get ready for church!! I had kids to get ready for church!! I needed my entertainer so I could get things done!!

I remember stopping even to pray...Kolton was down at my feet screaming. "Lord, I know this must be a test to see if I'm going to turn on that TV or not! I'm not giving in Lord, I'm not giving in..."

You know what....after about 45 minutes I gave in.

Now, I guess this little story isn't too encouraging for all of you. I really didn't even want to share it because...well...I failed, I was weak and gave in. To justify it to myself....I put in a movie about Moses. =) I'm smiling!

Thinking back, the Lord has given me things that I could have done different. I've taken mental note and will apply them next round. We still are going to continue our No TV Sunday Morning's and will work through each morning as they come.

This week, I've been aware of how much TV the kids actually watch. Lately they watch around two hours in the morning and then about an hour in the evening. There have been days that I have let time slip away and they have watched more in the morning...but that is my fault. If I don't actually go in and turn off the TV it will be left on all day! At this point, the Lord hasn't convicted me on the amount of time they are watching TV, but what they are watching. Again, I've only allowed them to watch certain channels or certain shows...but to sit down and actually listen to them...hmmm. I pray the Lord gives me wisdom.

Along with all the TV ponderings, I've also been convicted on the books my children are reading. We just finished up the summer reading program...and let's just say that I'm disappointed in the reading selection at our public library for our youth.

Yet...let's show the bitter ugly truth of things....

Here is my son, Tristin filling his mind with The Adventures of Captain Underpants. Now here is where I need to find the balance. The books are not bad books. The stories of the Wicked Wedgie Woman, and the Battle of the Bionic Booger do have a humor that draws children to read them. They're at least reading right?! Well that mind set is where we can get in trouble.

My point is to find the balance between allowing your children to read about wedgies and boogies from time to time, but to place their solid reading foundation on truths. As a parent I really feel convicted that I haven't done this up to this point. Honestly, as I look there really are not many resources available to find the books and videos I would like to find. You can purchase them online but that gets expensive!! It's too bad that we can't find many edifying books or movies at our library, video stores, or even Walmart.

Praise God for our fellowship! We are in the beginning stages of a church library. I'm especially excited about having resources available for our youth! I am so thankful for this!!!

But ultimately it starts with us as parents. We are to train up our children!! It is our responsibility!! It's our choice to be open to the Lord's guiding and directing every decision for your family. He's already provided us with the ultimate Manuel to do this, and He will provide all the resources as well.

Let's all seek the direction of the Lord for rearing up our children this week. The route He takes me might not be the same route He is putting on your heart. I'm not sharing because my way is right...that's obvious...but to simply encourage to keep walking forward with Christs' leading.

Are you ready for a giveaway??!!

I'm really excited to share this with all of you!

This fun little quilt is the perfect addition for your little one and her BbB doll! The quilt has been machine-pieced and hand-knotted with cotton fabric front and muslin back. It is lined with fleece. The scripture patch is located on the bottom right corner of the quilt.

Measurements: approx. 21 1/2 x 17 1/2 (or a quarter of a yard)

We've talked about adding doll quilts for a while now and I just haven't taken (or had) the time to get one made up. So I would like to finally introduce to you a possible new product for Baby be Blessed!

More uses for this item would be a blanket for your pet, changing pad which can easily tuck in your diaper bag, or even a sweet table topper for your nursery!

What do you think!
Snug as a bug in a rug!
Or bundle her up tight!
Can you tell I had fun taking some pictures!! I was going for the Moses by the river look. =)

Anyway, to be entered in the giveaway for the BbB doll quilt (doll is not included) please leave your contact information under this post Friday-Sunday. I will choose the winner on Monday!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Living Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6

Another week has gone by and as I backed up to re-read last weeks post, my heart swells! God is working me forward. Last week, it was like I was in wait....waiting tensely...knowing when you ask our Father to draw close and reveal those sins He will and I didn't want to see them. They are always there, but it's like we have blinders on...we know its there but don't want to look at it so we don't. I was emptying myself out and waiting for the Lord to reveal more of the ugliness to me. I was a little guarded in this. I really didn't want to see or acknowledge how much self was still in me. Your like a little kid in waiting for your whoopin'! But God LOVES us!! His love and grace are way beyond our comprehension. PRAISE GOD FOR THAT! I get focused on the not wanting to see or know all the ugliness and not on the grander picture of my own good in all of this. Just don't want to go through it...that's all. I'm okay just the way I am right?! I'm not so bad...look at those people over there and their issues. They are worse than me right Lord?? Oh that darn flesh we have to constantly battle. It's hard! It's daily, moment to moment most times! So dying to self hurts! It's suffering! But let me encourage you that going through the suffering and death of our self-life to the wonderful resurrection and glory of the life Christ has actually given us is awesome and so worth it!! The pain is softened and eventually forgotten.

Today as I type, I know I still have a lot that still needs to be revealed to me. It's a daily process and I know that. I praise God for that! But the difference is I'm closer. I see the pain and the healing. There is less of me and more of Him! Just choosing to yield and trust Him. Allowing God to perfect His perfect work. Only He can do this...we can't fix ourselves. Don't give up!

As I walk more closely with the Lord, I hear and feel the areas in my parenting that just aren't up to par. This comes from the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it's a loving nudge. Most of the time it's flat out conviction of falling short of what He desires. I'm trying to be open to both. Embracing both. Conviction is hard for me because I feel like I've failed! I'm a pleaser and have a hard time dealing with those emotions in which those are the ones I tend to then ignore...this hasn't worked so well for me. So I'm choosing to make the choice to take what the Lord has given me to work on and be thankful for showing me! Then making the choice to do something about it. He has placed on my heart that this work will not get done overnight and taking baby steps is the best way to go for me and our children. Making little changes like less TV, watching more closely as to what cartoons they are watching (which again, I did in the past...but I felt conviction, so I have to listen to what the Lords will is in that) and even the foods we are feeding our bodies.

Sunday morning I sat down with the children and we prayed together. I gave them a brief version of what the Lord is working on my heart and asked them to be in prayer about walking closer with Him as well. We are choosing NOT to get up on Sunday's and flick on that darn TV. Also choosing to eat better foods and spending more time together in prayer. We've also talked more about creation and how we can't see God with our eyes but how He is ever present in and through everything. A concept that I'm still working on myself.

Baby steps....

I don't want my children to resent this process. I've prayed that their hearts be prepared and that the Lord would meet each one at their level...even Kolton who is two. The Lord will guide each of us differently. Each of our families and personalities are different. That is how He created us and only He knows the path He wants each of us to go. The secret is simply removing all the self-stuff so we can hear clearly His direction. Only then will we stop taking detours down through the ditch to enjoy the wonderfully beautiful guided path He has set before each one of us.

Thank you Jesus for never giving up on us!

Vote for the next "Tina's Choice"!

Grace Dolls
Lucy Lou Doll
Emma Dolls
Hope Elizabeth Dolls
Maria Sue Dolls
Claire Margaret
Esther Ruth

Jacob Michael
Joseph Ryan

Vote for your favorite doll!!
The "Tina's Choice...Maria Sue" listing has worked out great and we will be offering you more "Tina's Choice" in the future. This works out so wonderfully because it is pretty impossible to list every single fabric we have in our cupboard. It allows you to order more dolls in a better timely manner because we have more freedom to cut, sew and finish dolls with less time behind the camera and computer. Yikes...believe me it can get crazy!! Let us know which doll is your favorite so it will be next in the line-up!! We will be having more polls as we go along to hear what dolls you want to be available next!
We are trying to figure out the best way to offer you more dolls, while at the same time keeping our faith/families balanced and not having a terribly long lead time. We also are looking at gearing up for Christmas in the beginning stages of planning an online holiday open house! More details to come...
Let us know your thoughts in the comment section! Be sure to vote, but also let us know what you would like to see more of in the future. We desire to continue to move forward in the Lord's leading. Only then will His perfect will be done and Baby be Blessed be used fully to what it is called to be.
Have a great day everyone!

Living Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6

We are back from vacation and seems that we are (or at least I am) still playing catch up from being gone. It feels good to be home but we had a wonderful time with family last week. We are blessed!! We did visit the Creation Museum last Tuesday and WOW...was it awesome!! If you are ever in the area, please make sure you visit!! I'll share more later on my family blog Thompson Blessings in which you can link to from the side bar...

The Lord has been plugging away at me for a while now. Most of it I really kept pushing back and didn't want to fully acknowledge or listen to. You know how you can just be going through the motions of life? Well that is where I have been. In speaking with my friend Lori the other evening it kind of hit me that you can know and even say all the right things as a Christian...but where is your heart really? Are you really living it out? Are you completely DAILY surrendering your will to the Lord??

I was not...

Maybe I thought I was...or maybe I even could tell someone I was...but I wasn't.

In praying about what today's post should be about in sharing my own walk in Living Proverbs 22:6 out as a parent, the Lord brought me back again to me. How am I? Where am I? Who am I in HIM?? Kind of ouchy to look at. Most of it I really didn't want to look at. That sin we all hold onto. I'm not even sure yet all He has to reveal to me about those controlling sins. I know that I have been ignoring...not wanting to see them because for some crazy reason, I want to hold on to them. I feel those things are better for me than what God has for me. I would have to give up something that I really do need in my life!

Yikes! As a Christian in my head...I know better! I've know what's right. I know truth. But where is my heart? What am I holding above Christ?

The Lord gave me more than I can put into words yesterday. I have a lot to absorb and continually lay down in my walk with Him. But you know what...I smile. As much as I was reluctant to even look at the ugliness I was still holding onto, God has me. He is calling me and has brought me to a place once again of complete surrender...Thank you Jesus!!

So what He placed on my heart is to simply share my walk in this. The bitter truth and all the ugliness of my journey of walking towards who Christ desires me to be in every facet of my life. The only place to start is with me and where I am at in Him. Once I am that clean and open vessel He desires me to be...I will be filled and I will overflow to all those around me including my children. Only through Him can we be living Proverbs 22:6! It is not through any study or program...only Him!

Let us join together this week in really praying that the Lord will revile our true hearts in Him no matter how ugly it might really be. The glorious thing about it is that once we remove those dead branches from our vine...we can really bloom!

Love you all!

Pursuit of God

I started reading The Pursuit of God this morning. This book has been on my bookshelf forever and I have yet to read it. The Lord's timing is perfect however as He brought me back to this book yesterday. My heart desires to know Him more. So quickly our minds and bodies get wrapped up in what is going on in this world, that we don't seek God and His will. We place our own controls and desires before the Lords. He is calling me...He is waiting on me to choose Him. To seek Him. To draw closer to my Creator. The prayer after chapter one brought me to tears as I continue to step forward in faith to Him and His will for my life....

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me
thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further
grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I
want to want Thee; I long to filled with longing; I thirst to be make more
thirsty still. Show my Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee
indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul,
"Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and
follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long.
In Jesus' name.
(AW Tozer)

Please pray with me. Pray that we would daily pick up our cross. That we would have a thirst to know Him. That we would have a mighty longing after our God!

Sweet Lindsay Dean!

Lindsay Dean, daughter of JR and Suzie Dean, was born at University of Michigan's C.S Mott Children's Hospital, June 11, 2008 with a Congenital Heart Disease known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, or HLHS. The short explanation is that Lindsay was born with only half of a heart. In order for her to live, a series of three operations were planned and possibly down the road, a heart transplant. Thus far, Lindsay has endured a total of 5 open heart surgeries and because of her poor heart function, Lindsay was put on the transplant list in November 2008. Well, much to our surprise, it finally happened! Lindsay has a whole heart and June 5, 2009 will forever be a date to remember! Lindsay is one of three children in the Dean family, brothers Cole and Cruz.

As of July 1, 2009 Lindsay is still in the Hospital as she experienced so complications after her surgery. Please pray for this precious family and click HERE to visit their site.

Living Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6

Over the past week I've prayed as to how the Lord wants this new journey to step it up in training our children. I've looked at a few different sites and ideas and I just had to lay it down, knowing that God would bring what He wants me to use to my eyes and heart.

At first I was going to start a small lesson on servanthood. The original lesson guideline I found looked good at first but then as I dug into the scriptures they referenced, I really did not feel this was were the Lord wanted us. The scriptures were taken out of context and gave a sense of fear and judgement instead of love. Be sniffers of the fruit!! I guess I mention this because we always need to be open to the Holy Spirit and the full truth of God's word. As believers we are to....

Preach the word; be ready in season {and} out of season;reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but {wanting} to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
2 Tim 4:2-4

There are many false teachings and doctrines in the world. Even within some Churches you go to seeking truth. To discern what the actual absolute truth is we must be equipped. First we must have a relationship with our Creator and know that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of the one true God. The Bible as a whole...not just bits and pieces in which you can pretty much twist to mean whatever you want them to. My Pastor always said you should never just sit in the pews and taking what your being taught for granted. Get into the scriptures!! Check it out for yourself! Make sure what you are being taught is the absolute truth! So before we can teach our children properly we must be SURE that we know what we are teaching. Seek God, His Will and understanding of His word!!

In my heart I felt I needed to start at the beginning. To start on solid foundation and build from there. The Lord brought me to Focus on the Family and to the FaithLaunch series. Simply their mission through this series is to "Ignite your child's love for Jesus"...AWESOME!

The first lesson is focused on teaching your children about the existence of God and how He teaches us about Himself in His creation and His word!

I'm so excited because the Lord's plan and timing is PERFECT! We will be on vacation next week. I was a little leary on how I would intertwine our lesson time within our time away...but one of our day's will be spent at the Creation Museum ! It will be a day PACKED with awesome truths that they will be able to see and touch directly!! I will be doing my homework so that I am prepared to teach what the Lord guides me to from this first lesson and more as we visit this awesome museum!

I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures!! Next Thursday I'll try to update, but we will still be gone on vacation so if not, I'll catch you all up when we return! Please pray for God to penetrate our hearts! May He be glorified in all we do!
