Taste and SEE!

So not only have my children and I walked through Holy Week, but also through our Wed evening Bible Study.

I help teach the 5-7 yr old class at our Fellowship and we have journeyed together through Jesus' final days here on earth over the past two Wednesday's.

I love to use a "Taste and see that the Lord is good"  (psalm 34:8) approach to teaching, meaning the more senses + hands on the better!!

So we traveled a bit as disciples with Jesus around the church.  We washed feet, walked into Jerusalem on a stuffed donkey + waved palms,  celebrated the last supper together, prayed in the garden of Gethsemane + fell asleep.  Through His word witnessed the arrest of Jesus, how they mocked him with a crown of thorns + drove nails into His hands.   How He took the full punishment of our sin + died in our place on the cross

...and how that wasn't the end of the story.  xoxo

One of the activities we did to help show the burial and resurrection of Christ was to make Resurrection Rolls.

Resurrection Rolls

Ingredients:

• 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
• 8 large marshmallows
• Melted butter
• Cinnamon
• Sugar

Directions:

1. Give each child two triangle shaped section of crescent roll. Press one seam together to             make a rectangle.  This represents the tomb.

2. Each child take a fork and pierce one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ.  His body was pierced for our transgressions.
"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5
3. Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents the oils and spices the body was anointed with upon burial.

4. Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow. Placing the body of Jesus in the tomb.

5. Make sure all seams are pinched together well.  Seal the tomb

6. Place in a sprayed muffin tins and bake according to package directions.  Place a piece of       tin foil or cookie sheet under your muffin tin.  --The marshmallow get's crazy and bubble over!

7. Wait "three days" and remove from oven.  We jumped and shook around from the                 earthquake and pretended we saw the Angel of the Lord!

8. Make sure they cool and break open the tomb and the body of Christ is no longer               there!!

9. Celebrate God's love!

"He is not here; He has risen!" --Happy Easter!!

Fullness of Joy

The past week has been full.  A good full like after that big Easter dinner, full.  And like after eating a good ol' Easter dinner....one could just crawl up on the couch, cover up with an afghan and take a good long afternoon nap!  And that is exactly how I felt yesterday after the kids went back to school!  =)

You can probably always tell on your end when I'm family busy on my end.  Things slow down a bit around Baby be Blessed.  The Shop updates get missed, facebook posts trickle out and the inbox is unopened for a couple of days.  For that I do apologize but it is the result of keeping God first and then my family second.  It's not a snub on my responsibilities on the doll front...it's just a shift in focus for a few days until the kids are back in school or a new routine smooths out a bit.

I praise God for each of you and thank you SO MUCH for the opportunity to fellowship with you as we make these dolls which proclaim His word!

Through this Easter season, as I read again the great commission from Jesus to His disciples...it made me think of these handmade dolls going out to "all the nations".  May God use them to make disciples.  To encourage disciples and speak to all those who doubt.

  The Great Commission
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them.  When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.   --NKJV

Resurrection Rolls

We made these tonight in Bible Study.

They were a big hit!

My big kids were a little jealous...so I think I'll make them again tomorrow.

Resurrection Rolls

Ingredients:
• 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
• 8 large marshmallows
• Melted butter
• Cinnamon
• Sugar

Directions:

1. Give each child one triangle shaped section of crescent roll. This represents the tomb.
2. Each child takes one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ.
3. Dip the marshmallow in the butter and roll in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
This represents the oils and spices the body was anointed with upon burial.
4. Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow.
5. Make sure all seams are pinched together well. (Otherwise the marshmallow will "ooze" out of the seams)
6. Bake according to package directions.
7. Cool.
8. Break open the tomb and the body of Christ is no longer there!!
9. Celebrate God's love!

The Christian.

CHRISTIAN doesn't equal PERFECTION

Being a Christian means we have recognized how broken we really are...and that we need a Savior.

I think that we forget that.

When we don't get our way and stomp our foot, we lash out with ugly words.  And probably the harshest words I hear over and over.... "You call yourself a Christian?"

Yes.  Yes I do.

I'm not surprised and it comes with the territory when you work with many people all over the world and from all walks of life.  I understand this.  Words dig deep.  Wound.   --Especially when they come from fellow Christians.

I am a Christian because I am a sinner.  I need a Savior.  I need a loving God to smooth out all the rough edges and continue to mold me more and more into Christ.   I NEED Him and I couldn't do any of this without Him.

I fall short and make a messy mess of things.

I'm not perfect....but I AM a Christian.

"God, my strength, I am looking to you, because God is my defender.  My God loves me, and he goes in front of me."  Psalm 59: 9-10

As we walk through Holy Week...may we all {and I speak to myself as well} treat each other with LOVE and GRACE.  May we not be "holy Pharisees" quick to judge, but have a heart of Christ.  Let's build each other up instead of tearing each other down.  Especially in our weaknesses.

...and would you pray with me today? Pray over this ministry/business called Baby be Blessed? May I KEEP MY EYES ON JESUS and represent Him well. --There are not enough thanks...XOXO!
