Peace
There are weeks that bitter news trickles in over you little by little until it feels like a huge wave about to take you under. An accident, news of cancer touching yet another life, death, sorrow, life struggles. I've noticed it comes in waves and this week news of this fallen world crashes over me and I almost find myself grasping for breath. Fear can overtake.
During VBS two weeks ago we learned all about choosing to put on the armor of God and this morning I realized that when I feel fearful...it's because I haven't been abiding and equipping myself with His truth.
When we open the Word we open Peace.
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." Colossians 3:5
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
"Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Philippians 4:9
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27
"I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33
Our God is bigger than anything this world offers.
