Loving well.

Yesterday evening our 4H club visited a local nursing home. We heard stories from those who had horses growing up which all followed the along the same theme.  Horses were strictly used for work --not pleasure!  =)

A silver haired beauty shared how when she was a little girl, she would chase the flies off the horses while her Uncle trimmed hooves and put on horseshoes.  Her skin wrinkled around her eyes as she smiled!  It was like she was taken back to that very moment as she spoke and stroked the nose of our horse.
Earlier that afternoon as we were scrubbing up a filthy spotted gray for the occasion, I was swaying back and forth on whether or not we would take Obie, our stinker I do not like to stand still mini that I really didn’t want to deal with  and then on to what time I thought we would be home and the clothes I had to take off of the line, and the dozens of ears of corn to freeze,  and the doll faces to stitch...the list went on.  I guess washing horses is like mowing the grass, your mind just runs and typically about how much you have to do and what little time you have to do it.

But oh His grace!

The Holy Spirit reminded me (again) that to love well is to sacrifice ourselves.

I am so thankful for His truth and a switch in perspective!

I am so thankful that we were able to share with others something that we so dearly love.

I am so thankful that it was a great time of blessing for the residents!

I am so thankful that I think it ended up maybe being an even bigger blessing for us!

it moves at lightning speed and this week I've been reminded to  just. slow. down.

Fair is always a busy week for us.  Well summer in general is very busy for us.  Time slips away and it's hard to balance a full time family and a full time business.  I find myself bouncing up and down back and forth so much that I get frazzled and stressed about tasks that I can't quite get accomplished.

But when I choose to slow and really pay attention to what matters things fall into place.  I feel so very blessed to be able to work from home and see these sweet faces all day long!

And all these dolls?  Oh how I love making them for you one by one!  I REALLY LOVE what the Lord has allowed me to do!  Yesterday evening as I turned and stuffed a bazillion arms and legs with my family all around me, I just smiled because I have the privilege of doing what I love!  Family and's all smooshed up together!

I think I'm slowly learning to just fully step into life no matter what.  We have seasons of busyness yes, but it's keeping the right perspective that is important.
