Living Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it"
Proverbs 22:6

Over the past week I've prayed as to how the Lord wants this new journey to step it up in training our children. I've looked at a few different sites and ideas and I just had to lay it down, knowing that God would bring what He wants me to use to my eyes and heart.

At first I was going to start a small lesson on servanthood. The original lesson guideline I found looked good at first but then as I dug into the scriptures they referenced, I really did not feel this was were the Lord wanted us. The scriptures were taken out of context and gave a sense of fear and judgement instead of love. Be sniffers of the fruit!! I guess I mention this because we always need to be open to the Holy Spirit and the full truth of God's word. As believers we are to....

Preach the word; be ready in season {and} out of season;reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but {wanting} to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
2 Tim 4:2-4

There are many false teachings and doctrines in the world. Even within some Churches you go to seeking truth. To discern what the actual absolute truth is we must be equipped. First we must have a relationship with our Creator and know that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of the one true God. The Bible as a whole...not just bits and pieces in which you can pretty much twist to mean whatever you want them to. My Pastor always said you should never just sit in the pews and taking what your being taught for granted. Get into the scriptures!! Check it out for yourself! Make sure what you are being taught is the absolute truth! So before we can teach our children properly we must be SURE that we know what we are teaching. Seek God, His Will and understanding of His word!!

So....

In my heart I felt I needed to start at the beginning. To start on solid foundation and build from there. The Lord brought me to Focus on the Family and to the FaithLaunch series. Simply their mission through this series is to "Ignite your child's love for Jesus"...AWESOME!

The first lesson is focused on teaching your children about the existence of God and how He teaches us about Himself in His creation and His word!

I'm so excited because the Lord's plan and timing is PERFECT! We will be on vacation next week. I was a little leary on how I would intertwine our lesson time within our time away...but one of our day's will be spent at the Creation Museum ! It will be a day PACKED with awesome truths that they will be able to see and touch directly!! I will be doing my homework so that I am prepared to teach what the Lord guides me to from this first lesson and more as we visit this awesome museum!

I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures!! Next Thursday I'll try to update, but we will still be gone on vacation so if not, I'll catch you all up when we return! Please pray for God to penetrate our hearts! May He be glorified in all we do!
