Too Cute...Tuesday!

(Written by Grace's Mommy)
Grace was an orphan on the other side of the globe. She has Down Syndrome. Many times in other countries, orphans with special needs are given a small window of opportunity to be adopted. If they are not adopted by a certain age (usually about 4 years old), they are often placed in mental institutions. One day we looked at the Reece's Rainbow website. Reece's Rainbow is a ministry that finds forever families for children with Down Syndrome (and other special needs) around the world.God led us to that site and ultimately to our daughter Grace. In August of 2009, we traveled to her orphanage to pick her up. We took a Baby be Blessed doll with us to meet her. She was very attached to her favorite caretaker at the orphanage, so she didn't take well at all to us taking her away. It was not an easy day for her.

1) Photo 1 is of my husband having our first attempts to bond with Grace. She was interested in the Baby Be Blessed doll (but not us!).:) She leaned in close to see the doll but didn't want to get too close to us.

2) Photo 2 is of Grace the next morning in our hotel bed. She had a bit of a restless night, and this doll was her comfort and best friend. It aided in the transition so much!

3) Photo 3 is of Grace on the airplane. She didn't know exactly where she was or what was happening, but she was secure with us and her doll.
4) Photo 4 is of Grace after being home about a month. She is a different child! What a difference a home and family can make! And her Baby be Blessed doll is still her favorite baby. (Oh, and her first English word was "DOLL!") :)

What a heartwarming story. She is a blessed little girl! Her mommy & daddy knew just how much a BbB doll would help them show their love for her.
